Montevertine Pian Del Ciampolo

Winemaker Signor Manetti refused to add Trebbiano grapes to his Chianti Classico over 30 years ago, therefore leaving the appellation. Because Montevertine remains outside the consortium, this stunning blend is simply labeled “Rosso di Toscana,” although it is as close to a Chianti as it can be. A blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino grapes aged for a year in Slavonian oak barrels, this red a softer expression of Tuscan wine. Flavors of black berries and red fruits dance across the palate, finishing with a lovely balance of mellow tannins and acidity.
