The GAJA winery started in 1859 when Giovanni Gaja opened a restaurant in Barbaresco and began making wine to serve with his food. A hundred years later Angelo Gaja, began his mission to bring the winery to an even higher level, producing some of the most sought-after Italian wines of the last 40 years. The family’s “DaGromis” Barolo is 100% Nebbiolo from vineyards located in Serralunga and La Morra that are aged separately in oak for 12 months before being blended and aged an additional 18 months in oak. The wine itself is floral and fruity, showcasing notes of cherries, plums, licorice, and marzipan.
