Agiorgitiko is an indigenous Greek varietal that, as of 2012, is the most widely planted red grape in Greece, ahead of Xynomavro. This medium bodied red has an elegant structure, balanced acidity, full of well-integrated tannins. The nose reveals aromas of blackberries, raspberries, and ripe strawberries with just a touch of tobacco and spices such as clove and cinnamon. The finish is long, dominated by red fruits and followed by sweet vanilla and black pepper. A fun, unique varietal to try if you enjoy structured, fruity reds.
