Eight generations of the Lançon family have made wine in the southern Rhone, tracing their lineage to Pope Urban VIII, whose relatives had to flee Rome for France after the Pontiff died. Vinified in concrete vats, the Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge is then aged in stainless and concrete for one year. A varying blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mouvedre, this bottling offers a stunning example of a Côtes-du-Rhône that could stand as equal to many Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Full-bodied with red fruits and a touch of pepper, like many Côtes-du-Rhône this is a quintessential ‘food wine,’ able to pair with many types of cuisine.
