Marchesi di Barolo traces its roots to the origin of contemporary Barolo. In 1929, winemaker Petro Abbona purchased the cellars owned by the Marchesi family, and eventually their 430 acres of vineyards. Today, the estate is spearheaded by Pietro’s great-grandson, Ernesto, and his wife, Anna. The “Maraia” Barbera is a fresh, fragrant expression of Barbera that is easy drinking. It showcases notes of wild berries and black cherries with more subtle notes of toasted vanilla and oak. This is a fantastic, full-bodied Barbera that will pair well with roasted meats or grilled pizza.
