And yet, Austria has additionally been the home of the expressive red wines produced from Blaufränkisch, a late-ripening grape that yields rich tannins and pronounced spiciness. Crafted by winemaker Anton Iby, who trained in both Spain and California, the grapes in this release were grown on high-elevations of clay and marl soils. It presents your palate with a foundation of baked plum, harmoniously melded with notes of licorice and even a slight swish of vanilla and cinnamon. This is to die for!
