The vineyards of Château Haut Bailly date to the 1530s, with the eponymous family purchasing the vineyards one hundred years later. The Haut Bailly II became the Château’s second wine in 1967, with grapes for this wine sourced from the same vineyard sites as the flagship Grand Cru Classe. Typically, two-thirds Merlot with the balance of Cabernet Sauvignon, the gravelly soil of the region give these wines a chewy character ideal for food pairing.
