Gaja Ca'Marcanda Promis

The GAJA winery started in 1859 when Giovanni Gaja opened a restaurant in Barbaresco and began making wine to serve with his food. A hundred years later Angelo Gaja began his mission to bring the winery to an even higher level, producing some of the most sought-after Italian wines of the last 40 years. Ca’Marcanda, Gaja’s estate in Bolgheri, was a project started in 1996 that catered to Angelo’s desire to challenge himself with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet France, and Merlot. The name “Promis” refers to a promise to bring liveliness and zest. The wine itself is a combination of Merlot, Syrah, and Sangiovese. It is a fruit-driven wine, predominantly featuring notes of raspberry, black currant, and blueberries, and has a slight spicy finish.
