The Popp family (originally of Hamburg) acquired Château Camensac through a forced auction during the French Revolution. Originally swampland, the land was drained in the 16th century to allow for vineyards that today produce very well-balanced blends of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon that pair very well with dishes like roast beef, duck, and mushrooms. Drink in the window of 5-15 years.
