Cantina Bertani was established in 1857 by brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani after Gaetano returned from Burgundy where he learned winemaking from Jules Guyot. By 1880, the brothers’ wines were being exported internationally and Bertani was a household name in Italian wine. Their Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is 80% Corvina Veronese and 20% Rondinella that is aged for 8 years in Slavonian oak barrels following fermentation and one year in bottle. This iconic wine exhibits notes of plum, cherries, and hints of licorice that are sweetened by soft spices balanced by its acidity.
