Steininger Loisium Gruner Veltliner
Steininger’s Reid Loisium Gruner Vetliner is as crisp and clean as the early fall air. This generous Gruner has lush tropical notes of pear, banana, and melon with the varietal’s classic herbaceous backbone and peppery spice.
Famous New York architect Steven Holl’s hand drawing dons the label. After a night of wine and persistence, he convinced the Steininger’s to let him design a state of the art hotel right in the middle of the Loisium vineyard—time stamping the cocktail napkin sketch at 4:00am.
Karl and Brigitta Steininger inherited the farmland from Karl’s parents in 1980. After attending viticulture school, and with Brigitta coming from a winemaking family, they decided to convert the property and its small number of vines into a fully functional winery. Together they produce some of the most terroir driven wines in all of Austria.
