While not the first producers of Merlot in Napa Valley, Duckhorn brought new renown to this classic varietal when they first offered it in 1979. Aged in 100% French oak (40% new) the cherry and raspberry aromas transition to silky tannins on the palate with licorice on the long finish. Some may malign Merlot but we’re willing to be they haven’t tried this masterclass.
