Returning home to his native Chinon following great success at Spain’s Dominio de Atauta (and a stint at Mouton-Rothschild in Bordeaux), winemaker Bertrand Sourdais began to convert his estate to fully biodynamic operations, making changes that would allow him to get the most character and purity out of his beloved Cabernet Franc grapes. His flagship bottling is a blend of grapes grown on various soil-types, which provide for a complex wine that represents the best of Chinon as a whole. Espresso and roasted-rosemary notes provide the frame around a core of black currant and mulberry fruit, all of which live in a harmonious and supple medium body.
