Ch. Beychevelle Saint-Julien

The legendary Château Beychevelle got its name for the gesture of respect passing ships would give to its original owner, a decorated French admiral. Those ships would ‘lower their sails’ or ‘Bêcha vela’ in the local Gascon. Today the honors come from anyone lucky enough to enjoy a bottle of this Saint-Julien standard-bearer. Almost equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot), the wine is on the softer side for Bordeaux with lush fruits and gentle tannins.
